My Story

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, I was a part of multiple startups researching, ideating, and prototyping a wide range of consumer products, from a smart bin to a countertop greenhouse. In addition to my work in product development, I taught elementary to college level mathematics as a part-time math teacher. I furthered my passion for product design while studying in MIT’s Integrated Design & Management master’s program. During my time at MIT, I developed a deep understanding of the human-centered design process, as well as an interest in toy design. I became a graduate fellow at MIT’s Morningside Academy of Design, conducting research on creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for young children. I spent a summer interning at IDEO’s Play Lab as a toy inventor, kickstarting my career in the toy industry.

Today, I work as a product designer at CrunchLabs, leveraging my interdisciplinary experiences as a mechanical engineer, designer, and educator. In this role, I develop toys that inspire children to become creative problem solvers by evoking their curiosity in science and engineering. Outside of work, I am a part of team Valkyrie on BattleBots as an engineer, builder, and driver. I also compete regularly with my beetleweight robot Nightlight at local events, sharing my love for engineering and problem solving through the excitement of combat robotics.

I approach complex problems through a solution-neutral lens with human-centered design, before leveraging my interdisciplinary skill set to implement creative solutions. Accordingly, I describe myself as an Interdisciplinary Creative. I specialize in end-to-end product development, from user research, to ideation, prototyping, design for manufacturing, and bringing products to market. As a champion of human-centered design, I involve stakeholders throughout the design process to ensure that the product deeply resonates with stakeholder and user needs.

I believe that everyday interactions subconsciously shape perception and behavior, and that redesigning these experiences for children can create meaningful and long-lasting impact.
