SmartWall consists of two main components: Board and Accessories. The board houses female connectors in the form of peg holes, while each accessory has a male connector in the form of a peg. To make prototyping easier, the pegs/peg holes were designed around a preexisting part: the 4P4C Modular Connector.

Market Research

We did research to try to better understand market needs and identify our target market. We surveyed a total of 300 customers.
Here are some interesting findings:
  • An average person owns 5 portable electronic devices. The 25-34 y/o age group owns the most number of devices: 6.
  • Respondents are open to trying better ways to organize.
  • There is a positive tendency towards the purchase of SmartWall.
  • Customers who are interested in purchasing are willing to pay $100-$150 for the board (excluding accessories).
  • Respondents expressed the most interest in the following accessories: Wireless phone charger (69%), Multi-purpose USB port (61%), and Shelf with USB port (43%).

Identifying the Target Market

By analyzing survey results and respondent demographics, we were able to identify our target market.

Building the Financial Model

Picture
The survey has given us a good idea of how much customers are willing to pay for the SmartWall. We are now able to calculate the average revenue per customer.

Our revenue model includes a one-time sale of the SmartWall board, in addition to a recurring sales of accessories. There will be an ongoing release of new accessories for users to add to their collection.

Under this revenue model, the average revenue per customer is $275.
Last but not least, we can now build our Financial Model!
Now we're done. Let's go PITCH!
